MADDOX CHERRY

STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR 2018 / 2019

Maddox is a well-rounded and caring young man who excels in the classroom, works hard to learn, and is very thoughtful of others.

Maddox is a fourth-grade student at Little Bennett Elementary School. He earns good grades that show evidence of his effort and desire to learn. His teacher, Ms. Menendez, would also highlight that he is a good citizen in her classroom. Maddox has served his school as a student ambassador and is a two-year member of the school's green team.

This year he has helped to lead his school's Kids Co flag
football team to an undefeated season and the Kids Co Flag Football Superbowl Championship. He has lead his Kids Co basketball team to an undefeated season and the team is currently preparing for the playoffs.

Maddox is incredibly thoughtful and has developed empathy for those who are not as fortunate as he. He and his sister personally packed 100 backpacks of school supply donations

for a local sorority chapter.  These backpacks were donated to a middle school in Silver Spring that has a high percentage of students who live in poverty.

Last year, Maddox completed a research project on Toys for Tots and decided that he wanted to collect toys for those who were in need. He and his sister decided to create the Cherry Children Christmas Toy Chest (also known as 3CTC) and collect toys for donation. This year, the second year of the toy drive, Maddox and his sister collect 107 toys. He donated 50 toys to the Laurel Boys and Girls Club and 57 additional toys to the Montgomery County Abused Persons Program for children and families escaping domestic violence.

Maddox Cherry is Crossover Elite's 2018-2019 Student-Athlete of the Year!
